Courtallam Get Together Details, Venue and Agenda

The get together meet is on us.

Courtallam beckons.

It is that unique moment we have been waiting for months.

Kob87 Introduction :
Kob87 is a group of students who studied in Karappettai Nadar Hr. Sec. School Tuticorin finishing their 12th Std in 1987. While  most who joined in 6th standard in 1980 stayed put and finished higher secondary in 1987, there were some who moved out to different schools. While we were able to locate and network with most, effort is on to locate others.

KOB87 translates to Karappettai Old Boys of 1987 batch.

 Pre Meet :
Other than some random meets here and there, there was no formal get together that happened in the past 29 years. On 20th Feb 2016, we planned a meeting to organize a get-together. There was overwhelming response and everybody wanted to be a part of the process. The planned meet was conducted much like a get together at Hotel Chitra, Tuticorin with 32 participants.

Charity:
It was decided in the pre-meet, that we will be doing something back to the society. A task force comprising of Jeyachandran, Thangaraj, Saravanakumar, Dinesh was formed to the effect, to oversee the activities.

So far, the following activities have been done:
** A sum of Rs 13,000/- was given to Raghavendra Babu for his daughter’s education. Contribution for this was done by Sundar personally, and not from the common contribution.

** A sum of Rs 20,000/- was given to Lakshmanan to admit his son in Karappettai Nadar Hr. Sec School, computer Science branch.

** A sum of Rs. 20,000/- was given to Rosari for his daughter to be admitted in SBOA School Chennai, 11th Standard.

It has been decided that all members will be contributing a sum of Rs 500/- each month for KOB87. He can choose to donate a lumpsum of Rs 6000/- a year or Rs 500/- a month.

Of this, a sum of Rs 300/- will be for get together purpose and Rs 200/- will be spent for charity purpose.

Also it has been decided that the charity amount given to the members will be considered as repayable interest-free loan.

Some of the highlights of this get together:
— Cooking has been arranged.
— Transportation from Tuticorin to Courtallam and back has been arranged by Van.
— Official timing for get together will be from 8.00 AM of 25th June 2016 (Saturday) till 2.00 PM of 26th June 2016 (Sunday).
— From breakfast of 25th to lunch of 26th June, food will be provided.
— Night stay for 25th is included.
— Local transportation to falls has been arranged.
— A T-shirt with KOB 87 Logo will be distributed to all attendees.
— A towel will be distributed to all the attendees.
— Group photo session is planned.
— DJ with power stereo music has been sponsored by Chennai group.
— Assume that anything expressly not specified is not included.

Dress code:
Dress code in general is free and easy. Formal or informal is OK.

However, note that if you are to bath in falls, you have to be dressed in shorts / towel.

For the photo session, it is planned to be in white dhoti (veshti) and KOB T-shirt. So, do remember to bring a dhoti.

Some Do’s and Don’t’s
** Do not bring costly items and jewellery to the venue.
** Do not bring excessive cash.
** Please take care of all your belongings. You will be solely responsible for your items.
** Please take care of the room and its infrastructure. See to it that the items in the room are not damaged.
** Please give a phone number of your family member to contact in case of emergency.
** Please bring appropriate attire to take bath in falls, in case you are planning to do so.
** Please do not use soap, shampoo in the falls.
** Bring your own medication where necessary.
** If you are going out of the venue, always take a friend with you.
** While going out, wear our KOB T-shirt. That will help in easy identification of our group members.

Transportation:
** A 20 seater van will start from Chitra Lodge on 25th June early morning 5.30 AM to courtallam.
** All Tuticorin friends are requested to book their seats by calling Sudhakar.
** The van will start sharply by 5.30 am and reach Courtallam by 7.30 am.
** The breakfast will be waiting for your arrival.
